HALF Fish HQ
Here are a few pictures from when the pool became a Community Interest Company (CIC) - when HALF Fish saved the pool from closure and now runs it for the community.
There is a story .... and once you have swum with us for a little while ... maybe we will tell you .... but it really all began with ......
ONE LITTLE FISH!
From 1905 the pool provided swimming opportunities for the children of Blackburn
There are clues all around the building that show its history ... can you spot them?
Most of the lessons were given to boys in the early days of the pool
In 1995 the pool was redesigned ..... it lost its historic frontage and in a bid to bring it to more customers it had a small pool built. The chimney was demolished and the cubicles around the large pool were removed, with changing rooms provided for both pools.
Compare this with the 1905 facade
Our Pools
Here at HALF Fish HQ we have two swimming pools.
One pool is used for general swimming, lane swimming and our lessons, this is 25m long.
Our small pool is heated to 30' (toasty warm!) and has large steps for entry. This pool is aimed at families, our adult and child sessions and of course our learn to swim programme.
Our large pool has a disabled hoists and we have changing rooms for all needs.
